Hidden Secrets of Bibi ka Maqbara Aurangabad-The Main Body of the Bibi ka Maqbara Aurangabad (Tomb)
The Maqbara
rests on a raised platform of the red porphyritic trap. The main body of the tomb
is square and not octagonal in shape as that of the Taj. The ascent to the
second platform is accomplished by means of a flight of two marble steps in the
centre. White marble is used on the walls up to a height of 5 feet[1] from
the base. Above that, the superstructure of stuccoed stone and white marble is used again in the surmounting dome.[2]The
dimensions of the three windows are 13 feet x 6.33 feet each and they are
specimens of exquisite trellis framework, so fine and minute indeed, that it
must have required infinite skill and care not to have damaged the material or
ruined it by the least incorrect movement of the chisel or negligence of the
workman, which could have inevitably happened.[3]
They form the jambs of the doorways.[4]
The beauty of Maqbara seen from Minaret |
Above
the height mentioned the superstructure is of stuccoed stone but the large surmounting
dome is of marble.[5]
